Worst-Case Detection Performance for Distributed SIMO Physical Layer Authentication

چکیده

Feature-based physical layer authentication (PLA) schemes, using position-specific channel characteristics as identifying features, can provide lightweight protection against impersonation attacks in overhead-limited applications like e.g., mission-critical and low-latency scenarios. However, with PLA-aware attack strategies, an attacker maximize the probability of successfully impersonating legitimate devices. In this paper, we worst-case detection performance bounds under such strategies for a distributed PLA scheme that is based on channel-state information (CSI) observed at multiple remote radio-heads. This setup exploits multiple-channel diversity enhanced mimics antenna architectures considered 4G 5G radio access networks. We consider (i) power manipulation attack, which single-antenna adopts optimal transmit phase; (ii) spatial position attack. Interestingly, our results show achieve close-to-optimal success only statistical CSI, significantly strengthens relevance practical Furthermore, that, by distributing antennas to radio-heads, missed be reduced 4 orders magnitude without increasing total number antennas, illustrating superiority over co-located setup.

A Physical-Layer Authentication Assisted Scheme for Enhancing 3GPP Authentication

The broadcast nature of radio propagation makes wireless networks vulnerable to eavesdropping attacks. To enhance authentication strength in wireless networks, various physical layer authentication schemes were proposed by exploiting physical layer characteristics. Recently, we proposed a novel PHYsical layer Phase Challenge-Response Authentication Scheme (PHY-PCRAS), which exploits both the re...

Multimodal object authentication with random projections: a worst-case approach

In this paper, we consider a forensic multimodal authentication framework based on binary hypothesis testing in random projections domain. We formulate a generic authentication problem taking into account several possible counterfeiting strategies. The authentication performance analysis is accomplished in the scope of NeymanPearson framework as well as for an average probability of error for b...

Noncoherent Detection for Physical-Layer Network Coding

This paper investigates noncoherent detection in a two-way relay channel operated with physical layer network coding (PNC), assuming FSK modulation and short-packet transmissions. For noncoherent detection, the detector has access to the magnitude but not the phase of the received signal. For conventional communication in which a receiver receives the signal from a transmitter only, the phase d...
